Fall 2007 Shelly Leibowitz Training Seminar

November 3rd and 4th 2007

D.O.T.E. would like to welcome world famous schutzhund trainer Shelly Leibowitz back for the Fall 2007 training seminar.

This seminar will be geared towards competitive obedience and precision tracking. This training will apply to any and all levels of AKC, UKC and Schutzhund. Shelly utilizes many different motivational techniques (tailored to each dog/handler team). He believes a superior obedience dog learns the behaviors because it wants to please its handler, and a good handler must learn how to and what will motivate their dog.

Precision tracking is the term used for the type of tracking training Shelly will be teaching, based on "ground scenting." Ground scenting is the basis for all types of tracking from AKC, Schutzhund to Search and Rescue work. It is the most accurate way to teach a dog to follow human scent, and the best foundation for any other type of tracking work. A dog with good ground scenting skills will excel at any of the advanced and variable surface tests.

Each dog/handler team will be evaluated, trained and coached INDIVIDUALLY, and their exercises with be uniquely tailored to their level, goals and needs. Students will have an opportunity to watch and learn from others as well, and there will be an open forum for questions and answers.

Dog/handler teams should bring:
