Dog Prefix Titles

Many people see letters before and after a dog's name (such as CH, CGC, RN, HIC SchH1, etc..) and wonder what they mean.

This is a list of prefix titles (common), their respective organizations, what they mean, and what you need to do to get these titles on a dog. Note: Unless otherwise specified, each title is only recognized by the parent / supporting organization.

Prerequisites are titles that the dog must have before attempting to get the title listed, please note some titles have more than one prerequisite and some prerequisites will have their own prerequisites.
